1,000 New Jobs Due to Landfill Project
This is one of those situations where you don’t know whether to cheer or cry. Yes, there are going to be about 1,000 jobs within the next 10 years in the Long Beach area due to a new landfill, which is fantastic; all of those workers will be able to support their families and make a living. But it’s a landfill, which serves to remind us just how much we’re wasting our planet away—and instead of searching for better, more sustainable options, we’re working as hard as we can to make Wall-E a reality. Plus, there’s the whole fact that working at a landfill can’t be healthy for the new workers, either.
